Vista or Windows 7 Resource Page
Microsoft has made significant changes to how software runs on its new operating system, Windows Vista or Windows 7. If you are NOT planning to upgrade to the Windows Vista or Windows 7 operating system, no action is required. You can continue to use your current EZClaim products. If you ARE considering using Windows Vista or Windows 7, you should understand the following:
- EZClaim Advanced 7 software on this site is Vista or Windows 7 ready. http://www.ezclaim.com/download
- EZClaim Basic 7 Release 4 and Advanced 7 Release 6 (and higher) are the only versions of the software that will install and work with the Windows Vista or Windows 7 operating system (all flavors from Home Basic to Ultimate). If you need a higher release of Basic 7, please contact EZClaim at 877-650-0904.
- EZClaim Basic 5 and Advanced 6 (and earlier), were developed and released before Windows Vista was introduced and will not work when running on Windows Vista or Windows 7.
EZClaim Setup and Updates
- Setup - During installation, a Vista or Windows 7 security box will appear saying 'A program needs your permission to continue'. Click the Continue button to continue with the installation. Vista or Windows 7 is making sure you actually want to install the program.
- Updates - Download updates to your desktop, right click the update file, select 'Run as Administrator'
Additional Vista or Windows 7 Information
- The C:\Program Files\EZClaim directory is read only unless running as an administrator. Because of this, the DBLocationLog.txt is not available
- The default database location will be C:\Users\Public\Documents\EZClaim
- The EDI File Analyzer is not accessible from the right click > Send To menu after installing on Windows Vista or Windows 7. You can manually add the EDI File Analyzer to the Send To menu.
- Only EZLink 7.0 and higher included with Advanced 7 will work with Windows Vista or Windows 7.
- Not all report downloads have been converted to Vista or Windows 7 compatibility. If an update will not work with Vista or Windows 7, contact our support department.
- If Basic 7 is installed on Vista or Windows 7 and you will be installing Advanced 7, backup your data, then uninstall Basic 7 before installing Advanced 7.
- If you are 'hosting' the database on a Vista or Windows 7 machine in a multi-user setup. You may have trouble with more than one person accessing the database. Refer to the following Microsoft knowledge base articles for more information. If you are running a peer-to-peer network, we suggest assigning a XP machine to be the 'master' and hold the database. - If you receive an Unsupported Operation error after entering your registration information, you may need to download the EZClaim software from the link above which will work with Windows 7 or Vista.
Note: If you have EZClaim Basic installed, DO NOT install the Advanced 7 unless you are ready to purchase the upgrade.
