How do I bill secondary claims?
EZClaim suggests upgrading to EZClaim Advanced for secondary billing. The EZClaim Basic program does not have the ability to automatically “flip” your patient data from Primary to Secondary claim data. To bill secondary with Basic, you will be setting up a ‘Secondary Claims’ patient group. The secondary group setup is a one-time procedure.
The advantage of setting up a secondary claims group is that the patient’s data will be in the correct fields for the secondary insurance. You simply need to enter or copy the secondary charge data and the claim is ready to submit.
2. Enter
‘Secondary Claims’ group name.
1. Go to ‘Find Patient’, select your Primary working group.
2. From your Primary working group, select by highlighting patients to copy to ‘Secondary Claims’ group. (See instructions for selecting claims at bottom of dialog box.)
3. Click
on ‘Copy to Another Group’.
4. In the ‘Select New Group’ dialog box, select by highlighting ‘Secondary Claims’, or the group name you have designated for your secondary claims. NOTE: If a secondary group has not been set-up select ‘New’.
6. You will receive confirmation that the claims have been copied.
7. In ‘Find Patient’ dialog box, select and open the ‘Secondary Claims’ group.
8. Edit patient information to reflect patient’s secondary insurance information.
9. Your patient data is now set up for billing the secondary insurance.
There are two options for entering charge data to the Secondary group. Copy charge data or enter manually.
1. From the patient’s primary charge screen go to ‘Claim’ on the Menu bar.
2. Select ‘Copy Claim to Another Patient’.
1. From the ‘Find Patient’ dialog box select ‘Secondary Group’
4. Enter charges for secondary insurance.
NOTE: All claim payments should be posted in the Primary working group.
